Round trip from Agnew Meadows to Thousand Island Lake

As part of a longer road trip, we decided to include a simple two-night backpack in the southern Sierras. In early July in most years, there would be too much snow for comfortable backpacking at this time in the high Sierra. But in this fourth year of a big drought our intended trails would already be mostly snow-free. We’d be starting at Agnew Meadows near Mammoth with Thousand Island Lake as our destination. To return we’d retrace our steps back to the starting point.

Day 1 – Agnew Meadows to Thousand Island Lake
Day 2 – Layover Day at Thousand Island Lake
Day 3 – Thousand Island Lake back to Agnew Meadows
